Local scenes by Jane Smith

Jane has been a practising artist and illustrator for around 35 years in London, the last 25 of them in Dalston, Clerkenwell and Bethnal Green. Her work also includes prints, sketches and watercolours of London and local architecture, street scenes and cityscapes as well as thousands of pen and watercolour sketchbooks from her extensive travels. A love of linocut and wood engraving also informs her style, as well as line drawing, and she works within all these disciplines. Her illustration work has covered many other subjects too although maps and architecture feature prominently. Based between her home in Dalston and studio desk share in Brick Lane, she has given east London plenty of chance to seep into her bloodstream.
