let me tell you a story…

44 years ago, a Hong Kong gentleman opened a Chinese Takeaway at 230 Kingsland Road. It was that same year when his son Tony arrived on the land of London.

After his father's retirement, Tony took over this shop space and opened a dry cleaning store called "THE STEAM ROOM". Every morning since 2004, he worked away under the mechanical heat and sounds, his concentration replaced by the sweats on his forehead. He could remember the face of every garment's owner, just like how he's never forgotten his roots…

“Where simple symbols on the label are not enough”

With the experience and skills I have gained through the years, I advise clients on how to clean and preserve their garments ranging from work to casual wear.

I am also a reputable raw denim specialist. My wife Fran and I believe in incorporating our traditional Chinese values of harmony, benevolence, righteousness, courtesy, wisdom and diplomacy into our daily life and business.

Fran : the lifestyle shop

Throughout the years, Tony and I have collected a series of useful tools and techniques for garment cleaning.

We wanted to share our knowledge to help our clients care and look after their beloved clothes - this is when the idea of opening our little lifestyle shop came to us!

All of the products that we sell in store have been personally sourced and tested by me. Each of them not only represents practicality and sustainability, but also a little pride of Asia!
